Camilla has lots of dance experience! She danced in the Nutcracker ballet and joined lots of ballet recitals. She is very excited for her upcoming hip hop dance recital! Newsies JR. is Lily’s first play! In the future, she would love to be in The Cursed Child and The Greatest Showman. Lily loves gymnastics, swimming, singing, and listening to audio books (like Harry Potter). Jane is an experienced actor who has been in four plays! She would love to play Jane in Mary Poppins in the future. Jane loves to sing and dance and would like to thank Ms. Sarah for putting the whole play together.

Veronica’s previously been in the Little Kid Ensemble of last year’s Matilda JR. She would like to play a strong supporting role in the future. Some of her favorite things to do are sing, dance, draw, play with her friends and have fun. Her favorite parts of Newsies JR. have been learning the catchy songs and being a part of such a first-rate production. “I would like to thank Miss Sarah and Coach Jess. You are both so creative and good at bringing Newsies to life.”

Avery’s past roles include Hortensia in last year's performance of Matilda JR. She loves to play softball, sing and dance, and draw. Marlo’s prior experience includes Backstage Crew and Matilda’s Magic in Matilda JR. When Marlo isn't taking excellent care of her pets, 5-month-old English Lab Alma and covid kitties Officer Pickles and Ginger, she can be found doing acrobatics on the trampoline, Karate chops in Karate class or whipping up the latest and greatest batch of Slime. She is delighted to be a part of the show-business team and is looking forward to partying like it's 1999 at the cast party. “I’d like to thank my parents, my sis and Alma for all their support.”

Last year, Marshall played Michael in Matilda JR. In the future he hopes to play Alexander Hamilton! Marshall’s favorite hobbies are playing soccer, basketball, baseball and sailing. He’s enjoyed the singing and being a part of the big dance numbers in Newsies JR. “I would like to thank my Mom, Dad and brother Michael for listening to endless hours of me singing on long car rides! Margot first appeared on stage as Sandy in Annie JR., then as Amanda Thripp in Matilda JR. Someday, Margot would love to play Persephone in Hadestown! When she’s not acting, Margot likes to play basketball, hang out with friends, annoy friends, sing and play tennis. Her favorite part of Newsies JR. has been getting to know her cast mates and learning all the songs and dances. “Thank you to Ms Sarah and Coach Jess for encouraging me and helping me be the best actress that I can be. So far, Sophia has played Berta Healy in Annie JR. and Matilda in Matilda JR. In the future, she would love to play Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Elphaba in Wicked. Sophia loves singing, dancing, swimming, and cuddling with her dog (does that count?). Miles’ prior roles include Little Kid Ensemble in Matilda Jr. and he would love to play "The Grinch" in The Grinch. Olivia made her stage debut as Eric in last year’s Matilda JR. In the future she hopes to play villain roles with lots of lines! Cora is back for her third performance with UASP! She's previously been Ensemble Cast in Annie and Matilda JRs. When Cora's not busy acting, singing, and dancing on stage, she loves to play ice hockey, swim, and make art. The best part of Newsies JR. has been the costumes! Anyone she'd like to shout out? "My mom and dad are so cool."

Maya has lots of experience on stage! She played Lavender in last year's Matilda JR., and it is her dream for the future to be in a BIG show--maybe even on Broadway! Maya's favorite hobbies are swimming and playing piano. It's hard to pick her favorite thing about Newsies JR.--she really enjoyed the learning process especially with the choreography and that the songs are so fun to sing! "I would like to thank Ms. Sarah for teaching us so well and dealing with us when we would not stop talking."

Gabi is a proud UASP alum, excited to be part of Newsies JR.! Gabi acted in UASP's very first production, Annie JR. and since graduating UASP, has gained lots of experience as a crew member with Bigelow Middle School's productions, including this year's Charlotte's Web and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.

CORA FEINBERG, 6th Grade

Cora is thrilled to be back at UASP in her new role as intern! Since graduating UASP, she's acted in Watertown Children's Theater's Newsies and Bigelow Middle School's The Lightning Thief. "I'd like to thank Miss Sarah for letting me come back to intern at the drama program that I love so much! And my mom and dad for everything."

MISS SARAH MORIN

Director & Choreographer

Miss Sarah is the Director of Programming at UASP and this is her 5th year with the program! Favorite directing credits include Matilda Jr, Annie Jr, and Frozen: The Mini Musical with UASP. When not at after school Ms. Sarah is also an actor and was most recently in Greater Boston Stage Company's production of Titanish. She would like to thank the wonderfully talented cast of Newsies for all their hard work! 

COACH JESS MALDONADO

Music Director

Coach Jess is an absolute superstar. Jess has tons of experience getting kids excited about being creative and active through multiple programs at UASP––including Annie JR., Frozen: The Mini Musical, Matilda JR., and now Newsies JR.!––and with Soccer Shots Boston. In those rare moments of downtime, Jess is often getting crafty with a crochet project or questing for adventure with a D&D campaign.
